Mat Colors and Information

All mats are acid-free. Prints are mounted on solid foamcore material that will not warp in humid weather. Prints 11 x 14 and larger on 3/16 thick foamcore for greater rigidity.

We do not show you samples of the available mat colors because it would be misleading. Most computer monitors are not color calibrated, so the colors would look different on different monitors. Our standard matting is 1) double mat - Raven Black for the inner mat, Silver (a non-reflective, cool off-white) for the outer mat. 2) single mat - Silver. The Raven Black inner mat frames the image while the Silver goes with most decor. The cool-toned Silver especially contrasts well with the warm tones of our sepia-toned images. This is our standard matting because it goes well with our images and most decor.

There are other choices listed below. Since it's easer to choose colors with a sample in front of you, you may request a free sample. Simply check "please send mat sample", and we will send you a sample free of charge of the selected colors before you order your print. State your selection(s) in the comments/questions box on the order form. The color choices are:

We recommend either a Raven Black or Antique White inner mat, depending on the colors and tonality (darkness or lightness) of the print. The inner mat should frame and set-off the print. Choose an outer mat to subtly work with the colors in the image and in your decor.
